Gynaecomastia A.k.a. ‘man Boobs’
Filed Under Gynaecomastia | Leave a Comment
Gynaecomastia is the development of large mammary glands in males in the breast tissue which can look in similarity to female breasts. This is more commonly called ‘Man Boobs’. This can cause a large amount of distress for young men in their teens but is not restricted to them only, as men from all ages are susceptible. It should be noted that there are different types of causes for increased breast tissue and that a proper diagnosis to see if you actually suffer from Gynaecomastia is very important.
The first thing you should do is go and see your local Doctor to have a check up, they are going to be best able to tell you if you suffer from Gynaecomastia. Many of the times this is a false alarm and what the patient actually suffers from is extra fat tissue.
If you are overweight than this can give the impression of ‘Man Boobs’ but this may be excess body fat which is very commonly stored around the waist, hips, as well as the pectoral area. The best thing to do then is to lose some weight through eating nutritiously and a proper exercising program. Some light weight training and cardiovascular exercises targeting these areas will be beneficial.
If you are slim or feel that you are not overweight now then perhaps in your past you were overweight and have since lost the weight. This can cause loose skin around the body including the pectoral areas. You should see a personal trainer or your Doctor for further advice on what can be done such as targeted training or surgery to remove the loose skin. Bodybuilders who have not trained properly may have over developed lower pectoral muscles and then neglected to effectively workout the inner or upper pectoral muscles which can cause a ‘drooping’ effect on the chest. This can be ‘fixed’ by placing more emphasis on working the upper pectoral muscles. For example, less flat bench and more inclined bench presses.
If you are not overweight and have always been slim/ slender and feel that you do in fact suffer from Gynaecomastia then you must believe me when I say that you are not alone. Thousands and thousands of men are afflicted by this once thought of embarrassing condition. Not knowing what T’shirt to wear and always sticking to wearing sweaters. Not wearing tighter fitting shirts as you feel this just makes it looks worse. Worried about going shirtless on holidays on the beach.
The problem is that the condition is just as much Psychological as it is Physical.

How to Lose the Man Boobs
Filed Under Gynaecomastia | Leave a Comment
Notoriously hard to get rid of, plumps of fat gathered in the male breast area – popularly referred to as “man boobs” – are becoming more and more common in the male population of the western world.
These unsightly collections of fat can give men the appearance of having breasts which, for many people and prospective partners, is off-putting to say the least. What’s more is that they’re hard to hide. T-shirts don’t cover them, and jumpers often show off two perky mounds, which can cause embarrassment and shame.
Man boobs don’t occur to every man, but they can often be a sign of too little exercise and a poor diet. In this instance, working to get rid of the problem shouldn’t be too hard: start working out more often and try to eat a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, slow-release carbs and healthy proteins, which you can get from pulses like beans and chickpeas.
However, some men can find themselves with man boobs when they do exercise and eat well. This is an unfortunate case where the problem could be a result of genetics or a condition called gynaecomastia causing poor luck when it comes for the body to store fat – and we all need to store fat. These cases are the ones where getting rid of man boobs can prove exceptionally hard. The fat collects in a place of the body that is difficult to work out, and spot training – where you exercise just one part of your body – is an unreliable method anyway. Like cellulite for many women, man boobs are barely possible to shift.
That’s when you might want to consider other options for treating the problem. Since the late 2000s, it is becoming more and more socially acceptable for men to undergo cosmetic surgery operations that make them look and feel better. Treatment for “man boobs” is one that has soared in popularity. Thousands of men from those with sedentary lifestyles to those constantly on the move who have been stricken with this problem are turning to surgery which can remove the fat stored and have you looking in peak form within weeks. It is an incredibly speedy, effective and safe solution to a long-standing problem that many men find incredibly damaging to their confidence.
As you can see, there are ways of losing man boobs – from a change in diet to male breast reduction – all of which can help see you shed the man boobs once and for all.

Men often talk of their love for women’s boobs, but it seems that most men are not too keen on their own. In fact, according to figures released by the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS), more men than ever are turning to cosmetic surgery in a bid to banish their man boobs, also known as ‘moobs’.
Moobs are caused by a condition called gynaecomastia, which develops for a number of reasons. Nigel Mercer, BAAPS president and a consultant plastic surgeon, explains: “We have been seeing more men with gynaecomastia in recent years. There are a variety of reasons for male breasts getting bigger, these include a rise in obesity, a rise in drinking and potentially, more female hormones in the environment.” Indeed, ‘gender pollution’ has often been cited as a result for this condition, which is caused by too many female hormones working their way into the water system, mainly due to the contraceptive pill.
Moobs can be distressing and hard to shift through diet and exercise, so male breast reduction surgery can often be the only solution. Celebrity sufferers include Simon Cowell, Jack Nicholson and Michael Douglas, and they are regularly mocked in the press when they are unfortunate enough to be photographed shirtless on holiday.
The BAAPS statistics showed that there was a 27 per cent increase in the number of men having breast reduction surgery last year, along with an overall increase in male plastic surgery of 18 per cent. The reason for this rise is attributed to a general acceptance of cosmetic surgery, making procedures less taboo. Dalia Nield, a plastic surgeon with the London Clinic, said: “In the past men probably put up with having strange shaped bodies, or developing breasts. Now men know there is a solution. They regard operations as a way of giving them a better quality of life.”

More Men Turn to Liposuction

Research by the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) shows that more men are turning to liposuction in a bid to banish their beer bellies and ‘moobs’.
The research shows that 18 per cent more men had the fat removal surgery in 2007, making it the second most popular male plastic surgery procedure after nose reshaping. Other procedures such as facelifts and breast surgery also gained popularity this year. The figures suggested a 61 per cent increase in the number of men undertaking tummy tucks, and demonstrated that 27 per cent more men were turning to breast surgery to have their ‘moobs’ – a slang term for man boobs – reduced.
Nigel Mercer of BAAPS believes an increasing number of men are suffering from obesity and gynaecomastia, the medical term for male breast growth. He said: “We have been seeing more men with gynaecomastia in recent years. There are a variety of reasons for male breasts getting bigger, these include a rise in obesity, a rise in drinking and potentially, more female hormones in the environment.”
The actual number of men opting for liposuction procedures rose from 494 in 2006 to 582 in 2007. Doctors attribute this significant increase to society’s emphasis on maintaining bodily perfection and a youthful appearance. Dalia Nield, a consultant plastic surgeon at the London Clinic, said: “In the past men probably put up with having strange shaped bodies, or developing breasts. Now men know there is a solution. They regard operations as a way of giving them a better quality of life. It is rare for men to come to me because they want to look like one of the Chippendales.”
The increase in liposuction could also be attributed to the development of new, less invasive procedures such as Smartlipo.
Although men are undertaking more plastic surgery procedures than ever, 91 per cent of all procedures are still performed on women.

Gynecomastia Treatment

If you’re a teenage boy or grown man with gynecomastia, you’ve probably been looking high and low to find the best treatment for your condition. It’s embarassing, sometimes painful, and downright problematic. It also tends to look unattractive on human males, so it’s natural for you to seek out treatments.
First let’s look at what gynecomastia really is. It’s a known medical condition which usually affects teenage boys going through puberty. It can also affect elderly men because they also experience large hormonal imbalances as they advance in age.
Gynecomastia will cause the boy’s or man’s chest area to swell, making it appear as if he has breasts. This condition is often referred to as “man boobs” or “puffy nipples”. Usually an area about an inch and a half wide, right under the man’s nipples will become swollen and tender. Sometimes the nipple will excrete milk too.
Now there is no commonly used gynecomastia treatment, because the condition tends to go away on it’s own. With 90% of the cases in teenage boys for instance, gynecomastia will disappear on it’s own within one to three years without any special treatment or medications.
Many men and boys don’t want to wait years for the problem to go away though, instead they want a treatment for the condition that will work quickly. In these cases, the most common way of treating gynecomastia is to have plastic surgery done. The surgeon will perform a simple proceedure which involves removing the extra fat and glands between the muscles and nipple on the man’s chest.
Other forms of gynecomastia treatment might be recommended though, if the condition is caused by other factors. Sometimes for instance, gynecomastia can be caused by alcohol, illegal street drugs, and some prescription drugs.
If the problem is caused by alcohol or illegal drugs such as marijuana, then the best course of treatment would be to stop using those things. If gynecomastia is caused by prescription drugs instead though, then the treatment would likely involve your doctor either taking you off of the drugs which are causing the condition, or changing to a different type of drug which doesn’t have that side effect.
There is another type of gynecomastia however, and this one tends to be much more common – particularly in men who are past puberty but not yet near elderly ages. This is technically false gynecomastia, and it produces the man boobs or puffy nipples as regular gynecomastia does, yet you won’t usually experience tenderness or milk production.
False gynecomastia is caused by simply gaining weight. The technical term for it is pseudognecomastia. Your body has additional stores of fat on it, and it’s keeping some of that extra fat on your chest. The best treatment for this type of gynecomastia of course, is to lose weight.
Technically just losing weight won’t always solve the problem either. Since the false gynecomastia is caused by fat deposits on your chest, the true treatment must include losing actual fat from your body too. You can easily lose “weight” in the form of water loss for instance, but that won’t burn any actual excess fat from your body and thus it’s not a viable treatment for the actual gynecomastia problems.

For those out there that suffer from Gynecomastia I’m sure that you wish you no longer had this problem. If you don’t have Gynecomastia and don’t know what it is, it is a big word for “man-boobs.” You might be snickering if you are one that doesn’t have and has never had Gynecomastia but if you have it really is no laughing matter. This is actually a problem that around forty percent of men suffer from and wish that they didn’t. Fortunately for those who do have this problem there are a few types of Gynecomastia treatment that you can try.
The first type of Gynecomastia treatment that many will think of is surgery. It seems that now days that’s the first solution that people think of. If you want to lose weight don’t diet, there’s liposuction. If you don’t like your wrinkles there’s botox or face lifts. But if you looked harder then you would find some other types of treatment that don’t involve a scalpel or anesthesia. But surgery is so ridiculously expensive that I don’t see how some can justify the expense for their looks. I mean there are models who have faces that make them money and stuff but for just anybody to have a face with ten thousand dollars in it. But if you have Gynecomastia, there are surgeries out there that can fix you for $4,500-$8,500 along with pain and scars and all that fun stuff. Knock yourself out.
But if surgery isn’t the type of Gynecomastia treatment that you wish to have then you’ll be happy to know that there are some really good supplements out there that will work wonders. And they will only work wonders on your body, not your wallet. There are several types of Gynecomastia treatment out there that are in the firm of a pill that you take that works to break up the fat stores in your torso, shedding away fat to show the muscle beneath. That Gynecomastia treatment will work to improve any male’s self image, young or old. What’s great about the pills as a Gynecomastia treatment is that not only are they a fraction of the cost of a surgery but the results are just as lasting.
I’d be the one to try the Gynecomastia pills that are available as surgery is just too risky. There have been some deaths that have occurred in the media lately because of the risks of cosmetic surgery. So if there is a pill available that can take care of the same thing that a scalpel can as a Gynecomastia treatment, I’m game.

The term man boobs is commonly used to describe the condition otherwise known as gyno or gynecomastia. This is when the male chest tissue becomes inflated and puffy looking and can happen on both sides or just one side of the chest. Many men think that gynecomastia surgery is the only way to rid themselves of this embarrassing condition. It’s nothing new, and some experts estimate that as much as 40% of the male population suffers from gynecomastia to some degree. It frequently leads to low self esteem and loss of self confidence as well as a great amount of embarrassment. Treating gynecomastia properly can help many men regain a fuller social life and increase their confidence dramatically.
The word gynecomastia is derived from the Greek words ‘gyne’ which means woman and ‘mastos’ which means breast. Most men will develop gynecomastia in puberty and in many cases it will disappear by the time full adulthood is reached. The thing is that during the time the gynecomastia is active many men and young men will avoid exposing themselves to avoid the embarrassment and ridicule of others. They will avoid situations where they need to remove their shirts and some may even forego sexual relations. Fortunately there are treatments available that can significantly reduce the size of their man boobs and they should all be aware of these treatments to help them live a fuller life.
As you would imagine with so many men suffering from this embarrassing condition there are several ways to treat gynecomastia. Just a small amount of research will uncover several gynecomastia cures that can help men lead a normal life without the stigma of gynecomastia. Gynecomastia treatments and cures range from diet and exercise to herbal and hormone treatments to gynecomastia surgery.
Obviously the surgery is the most extreme option and with so many alternatives available it is easy to avoid the possibly dangerous and expensive surgery option. While gynecomastia surgery is fairly common, there are still risks involved. Common side effects range from scarring to actual misshapen or asymmetrical chests.
Many men have found that a good herbal supplement combined with proper diet and exercise is a great way to treat gynecomastia and avoid the dangers of surgery. Natural treatments for gynecomastia are gaining in popularity as more men discover it’s possible to rid themselves of gyno without surgery.
If you’re thinking of going the herbal supplement route you should check with your doctor first to make sure you won’t have any reactions or interaction with your current medications. While herbal supplements are considered 99.9% safe there are occasional drug interactions to be aware of. Herbal supplements are certainly something you’ll want to investigate prior to thinking about potentially dangerous gynecomastia surgery.

Gynecomastia is abnormally large male mammary gland resulting in enlargement of breasts. The term Gynecomastia comes from the word, gyne = woman and mastos = breasts.
This condition occurs in all age groups of men. It is often a source of distress to adolescent boys. However, for several people, whose pubertal gynecomastia does not arise due to obesity, the development of breasts disappears or shrinks within a couple of years.
Gynecomastia occurs due to imbalanced sex hormones. The breast prominence results from hypertrophy of chest adipose tissue or the breast skin. If the breast increases in size only due to excessive adipose, it is termed lipomastia or pseudogynecomastia.
Gynecomastia Surgery:
When dieting and exercise fails to promote breast reduction, Gynecomastia surgery is the next option for treatment of Gynecomastia.
The advantage of the Gynecomastia surgery is that it has very few side effects. Even the scars due to operation are indistinct. The patient can resume with work in two to three weeks.
Gynecomastia surgeons generally follow the surgery with liposuction. It involves sucking out of the fatty cells with the insertion of small tubes around the areola.
The entire procedure takes about an hour. Usually, the gynecomastia surgeons discharge the patients immediately after the surgery. However, it is important to avoid any exercise and strenuous activity that may involve the chest for a couple of weeks after the surgery.
To cure Gynecomastia, it is necessary to treat the underlying cause of the condition. Gynecomastia surgeons also prescript certain alternative medicines that relieve the side effects of Gynecomastia. For example, eplerenone is an alternative for spironolactone.
Selective receptor modulators such as tamoxifen and clomiphene or androgens or aromatas inhibitors such as Letrozole are other medical alternatives. However, doctors do not approve them for the treatment of Gynecomastia.
Many American insurance companies consider Gynecomastia as a cosmetic surgery. Hence, they deny coverage for such surgeries.
Sometimes, a Gynecomastia surgeon may prescribe radiation therapy to prevent Gynecomastia in patients who suffer from prostate cancer. Compression garments can disguise this deformity and thus, provide emotional relief.
Physically, gynecomastia is not harmful, but it plays a huge role in promoting lower self-esteem in boys.
